About Kara Cannon, M.A., CCC-SLP

Kara has over 15 years of experience as a Speech-Language Pathologist in settings including public schools, private practice, outpatient clinics, teletherapy, and natural environments. Her professional interests include accent and dialect training, literacy, apraxia in older children, speech sound disorders, and health literacy.

Kara is a certified member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and is licensed in the states of Florida and Georgia.

Kara has completed continuing education including:

- Orton-Gillingham approach (in progress)

- Structured Literacy

- Dyslexia

- Introduction to PROMPT course (2017)

- Compton PESL Certification course (2020)

- The Accent Channel Method Accent and Pronunciation Teacher Training course (2021)

- Some skill with American Sign Language (ASL)

- Childhood Apraxia of Speech

She lives in Winter Garden, Florida with her husband and three kids. They go to the beach as often as possible! Kara loves singing and playing a few instruments, learning languages, and fiber arts crafts.
